week4 responses to readings

When organizing information it is important to consider how information structures are related so they can make logical sense to the web viewer.  To organize you can divide content by using a hierarchy of important points making it useful for creating relationships between your units.

When designing a web structure think of  how you will navigate the information so it will be more organized for the reader.  Consider three structures for organizing: first use sequencing which can be chronological, a logical series of topics or alphabetical.  This will allow the reader to flow from one idea to the next.  Another method hierarchies are useful when dealing with organized material.

When designing a page consider composition sequence and legibility.  Visuals are useful because they keep information interesting.  Avoid dense text documents because they are hard for the reader if they lack contrast.  By using consistency through a grid and style you can build unity across your pages without the reader becoming bored.

Content in a website include minimal word use and defining sequence of instruction to guide your readers.  Upper and lower case letters are important in showing an affirmative voice which will make your topic more appealing.  Avoid prose to keep reader focused.

Writing web content and organizing it is vital.  To do this you can put important information on top followed by relevant information.  Avoid useless information in order to keep reader interested by allowing a quick understanding.  Consider the goals and needs of the site when organizing.

One way you can set up your web hierarchy is to put HTML files at one level and then the other files in a hierarchal kit organized by importance of information.  Resources can be broken down to images software and sounds.
